The University of Scranton has appointed 17 new full-time faculty members for the 2011-2012 academic year.

        Duane Armitage was named lecturer of philosophy. Armitage previously taught at Misericordia University, Dallas, as well as The University of Scranton as an adjunct philosophy professor. He received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from The University of Scranton, and a master’s degree in philosophy from Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Mass. He is presently pursuing a doctoral degree in philosophy from The New School for Social Research, New York, N.Y. He resides in Old Forge.

        Aram Balagyozyan, Ph.D., was named assistant professor of economics. Balagyozyan previously taught at the College of Staten Island, City University of New York, Staten Island, N.Y., as an assistant professor in economics and finance, and as a recitation instructor at Baruch College, City University of New York, New York, N.Y. He also taught as a visiting professor of economics at Trinity College, Hartford, Conn., and an adjunct professor at the City University of New York, the International Executive Program in Taiwan and Singapore. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Yerevan State University, Yerevan, Armenia, and holds a doctorate in financial economics from the City University of New York. He resides in Wayne, N.J.

        Lori A. Cooper was named as a lecturer-generalist of preschool and elementary education. Cooper previously worked at Luzerne County Head Start as an early childhood specialist. She also taught at King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, as an adjunct professor in early childhood education, Country Charm Early Learning Center, Drums, as a lead teacher, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education as a peer reviewer. She has a bachelor’s from Mansfield University, Mansfield, a master’s of education degree in early childhood education from Cameron University, Lawton, Okla., and is a certified teacher in Pennsylvania. She resides in Duryea.

        Kim Daniloski, Ph.D., was named assistant professor of management and marketing. Daniloski previously taught at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Va., as an instructor in marketing research and as a graduate research assistant in the marketing department. She received a bachelor’s degree in communication studies, a master’s in marketing research and holds a doctorate in marketing from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She resides in Scranton.

        Gerard J. Geoffroy was named lecturer of counseling and human services. Geoffroy previously taught as an adjunct faculty member at The University of Scranton in counseling and human services. He also served as a school counselor at Delaware Valley Middle School, Milford, Pace University School of Continuing Education, White Plains, N.Y., and Pleasantville, N.Y., and Fordham Preparatory School, Bronx, N.Y. He also served as chairperson on Counseling Department for Clearwater Central Catholic High School, Clearwater, Fla. He received a bachelor’s degree in English from Marist College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., a master’s degree in counseling from Iona College, New Rochelle, N.Y., and master’s degree in public administration from Fordham University, Bronx, N.Y. He resides in Jermyn.

        Kathleen Iacocca, Ph.D., was named assistant professor of operations and information management. Iacocca previously taught as a business instructor at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J., and Newark, N.J., in the undergraduate program and also worked with the executive MBA program. She also served as an undergraduate teaching assistant at The University of Scranton. She received a bachelor’s of science degree in finance and her master’s in business administration from The University of Scranton. She holds a doctorate in supply chain management from Rutgers Business School. She resides in Macungie.

        Taewan Kim, Ph.D., was named assistant professor of management and marketing. Kim previously taught at the College of Business Administration, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln, Neb. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Hannam University, South Korea, a master’s of professional accountancy degree from the College of Business Administration, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he earned his doctoral degree. He resides in South Abington Township.

        Karim Medico Letwinsky was named lecturer of education. Letwinsky previously taught at The University of Scranton, Marywood University, Scranton, and the University of Phoenix, Phoenix, Ariz., as an adjunct math professor and on-line adjunct math professor. She also taught at Wyoming Area Secondary Center, Exeter, and Luzerne Community College, Nanticoke, as a mathematics teacher. She received a bachelor’s of science degree in finance from Fairfield University, Fairfield, Conn., and a master’s degree in secondary education with certification and specialization in mathematics from The University of Scranton. She is pursuing an Ed.D., degree in educational leadership with specialization in curriculum and instruction from the University of Phoenix. She resides in Wyoming.

        Wendy Manetti was named faculty specialist in the Mary Eileen McGurrin, R.N., M.S.N., Department of Nursing. Manetti previously managed the nursing skills and simulation laboratory and was a clinical instructor of nursing at Marywood University, Scranton. She previously taught as an adjunct faculty at The University of Scranton. She maintains current certification and currently practices as a family nurse practitioner. She also worked as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton. She received a bachelor’s of science in nursing, a master’s of science in nursing from The University of Scranton, and is pursuing a doctoral degree in nursing from Widener University, Chester. She resides in Old Forge.

        Natalie Milani, Ph.D.-Ed. cand., was named lecturer of exercise science for the 2011-2012 academic year. Milani worked as a consultant dietician in private practice, a corporate support services coordinator at Multicare, Hackensack, N.J., a medical nutrition therapist at Healthcare Hospitality, Philadelphia, a nutrition services director at Beverly Enterprises, Wilkes Barre, and a support services coordinator at Coscia Management, Wilkes Barre. She received her bachelor’s of science in nutrition and dietetics from Marywood University, Scranton, master’s of science degree in public health from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kirksville, Mo., is a registered dietitian and is a candidate for a Ph.D.-Ed., from Northcentral University, Prescott Valley, Ariz. She resides in Clarks Green.

        Monika Moyrer, Ph.D., was named lecturer of world languages and cultures.  Moyrer taught as a faculty fellow at Colby College, Waterville, Maine, as a lecturer at Freie Universitat, Berlin, Germany, and as a visiting assistant professor at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Va., Valparaiso University, Valaparaiso, Ind., and Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, Minn. She has a master’s degree in Germanic languages and literatures from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kan., and holds a doctorate in German from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minn. She resides in Scranton.

        Julie Ann Nastasi, OTD, was named faculty specialist in occupational therapy. Nastasi previously taught as an assistant professor at Ithaca College, Ithaca, N.Y., and as associate director/clinical education coordinator at Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. She worked as an out-patient and in-patient occupational therapist at several hospitals including Northern Westchester Hospital, Mount Kisco, N.Y., and Lawrence Hospital Center, Bronxville, N.Y. She received a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from The University of Scranton, a master’s degree in occupational therapy from Tufts University, Medford, Mass., a graduate certificate in low vision rehabilitation from University of Alabama at Birmingham, and an OTD degree from Boston University, Boston, Mass. She holds specialty certification in low vision through the American Occupational Therapy Association. She resides in Scott Township.

        Christos Pargianas, Ph.D., was named assistant professor of economics and finance. Pargianas previously taught at Brown University, Providence, R.I., as an economics instructor. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece, and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece, and Brown University. He earned a doctorate in economics from Brown University. He resides in Dunmore.

        David Salerno, Ph.D., cand., was named assistant professor of accounting. Salerno previously taught at Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, as a graduate assistant in the Ph.D. program. He also served as a lecturer in the Accounting Department at the Kania School of Management and was a proposal and cost specialist at Global Metal Form, Scranton. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA from The University of Scranton. He is currently completing his doctorate in business administration-accounting at Kent State University. He resides in Scranton.

        Annette T. Tross was named faculty specialist for the Mary Eileen McGurrin, R.N., M.S.N., Department of Nursing. Tross previously taught at The University of Scranton and at Marywood University, Scranton, as an adjunct faculty member. She has worked as a nurse manager, emergency services, clinical director, radiation oncology clinic nurse, critical care nurse practitioner, and registered nurse at Mercy Health Partners, Scranton. She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of the State of New York, Regents College, Albany, N.Y., and a master’s degree in nursing, CRNP certification-family health from College Misericordia, Dallas. She resides in Old Forge.

        Jill A. Warker, Ph.D., was named assistant professor of psychology. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, and she earned a master’s and holds a doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Ill. Warker previously taught as an instructor in psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Ill. She was then a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, San Diego, Calif. She resides in Scranton.

        Kenneth J. Zula, Ph.D., was named assistant professor of health administration and human resources. Zula previously worked at Keystone College, La Plume, as an associate professor of business, chairman of the business, management, and technology division and coordinator of business degree programs. He also was an online adjunct instructor at the University of Phoenix, Phoenix, Ariz. He received a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies and a master’s degree in organizational management from Misericordia University, Dallas. He holds a doctorate in human resource development from the Pennsylvania State University, University Park. He resides in Tunkhannock.
